Model 2 - Live transmission of moving imagesHardware chain
Construction NotesAxis 21001. Connect the Axis to an ethernet. Give it an IP. Upgrade the flash to 2.12, according to the Axis website. This is vital - I couldn't get anything to work with the 2.02 software pre-installed. Reset the machine (via web, or via control switch).2. Open a dial-up connection via your serial port at 115,700 baud. Try it first with the included serial null modem cable. Any phone number works. Use the username `root' and password `pass'. Unlike the manual says, just any name will not work. Watch the debug log to see what is or is not working. 3. I could not get the automatic DNS facility to work with linux (it did work fine with Windows). But not to worry. Watch your /var/log/messages file to see which IP gets assigned to the Axis; for me it is usually 192.36.253.80. Enter http://192.36.253.80 into your web-browser, and you'll see the image. Configure the image with the layout options. 4. Now the wireless part. Set the baud rate for the FreeWaves to 115,700 (with minicom or hyperterm). Now, use a straight serial from the FreeWave to the Axis, and another connecting the FreeWave and the computer. Switch it all on, and voila! Hopefully! You should have radio-video-monitoring to 20 km away. Supplies
