Prospective Students

I am looking for undergraduate and graduate students to join my lab at University of Missouri - St. Louis. My lab research will broadly focus on plant structure and function (anatomy and physiological ecology), community ecology, and evolutionary ecology, both in the temperate and tropic zones. My own research will especially focus on plant traits related to water transport and tissue support. I will expect students to develop their own independent projects under the broad confines of the lab focus but also expect students to be interactive within the lab group. I will hold lab meetings, journal clubs, and individual meetings with my lab members, offering many opportunities for discussions.

The Department of Biology at the University of Missouri, St. Louis has a tradition of training strong graduate students. It has linkages to the Missouri Botanical Garden, Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, Saint Louis Zoo, Organization for Tropical Studies, St. Louis University, and Washington University. The Biology Department also hosts the Whitney R. Harris World Ecology Center, offering support to graduate students interested in international research.

If you are interested in working with me, please send an email (aezanne "at" gmail.com) with brief details about your GPA, GRE, research interests, experience, and why you want to go to graduate school. For information about applying to the program, go to the the University of Missouri - St. Louis, Department of Biology website. I am also happy to answer any further questions you might have.

I look forward to hearing from you!
